Leonardo's ingenious machines: Discover the special exhibition in Schwalmstadt!

In the Schwalm Museum in Schwalmstadt-Ziegenhain, a new special exhibition will take place from October 20 to December 8, 2024, which focuses on the work of one of the greatest inventors in history. Under the title "Da Vincis Maschinen", visitors can discover the fascinating technical visions of Leonardo da Vinci.

da Vinci is world famous for his paintings, but his engineering designs and scientific ideas stayed in the background for many years. Many of his groundbreaking concepts were far ahead of their time and possibly changed the world if the technologies required would have been available at his work. The exhibition presents more than 30 scale wooden models based on the original sketches of Da Vinci.

interactive experiences and comprehensive information

The exhibited models cover a wide range of inventions, including developments in mechanics, hydraulics as well as military technology and means of transportation. Visitors have the opportunity not only to look at some of these models, but also to try them out, which makes the exhibition particularly alive. Technology enthusiasts and those interested in history of all ages can look forward to an exciting experience.

In addition to the models, there are informative text and image boards that give an insight into Leonardo's life, the influence of its contemporaries and the social framework of the Renaissance. Revolutionary ideas such as the ball bearing and the tank, which influenced the world of engineering sustainably, are particularly emphasized

There is an attractive offer for school classes: In cooperation with the Lions Club Schwalm-Eder Borken and the Rotary Club Schwalmstadt, the first ten school classes who register by email are free admission, including a tour. An excellent opportunity to inspire young people for science and technology.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with visiting times from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For groups of ten or more people, guided tours outside of regular opening times are possible, but only after prior reservation.

The admission prices vary depending on the age and group composition: adults pay 7 euros, while groups of ten or ten people only pay 5 euros per person. Students also get away cheaply and pay 5 euros, even 3 euros in the class association. Family offers are also available: a family with an adult and up to five children can enter for only 10 euros, while a family with two adults only pays 17 euros.
