Parking management in BW: Local parking is so expensive!

In Baden-Württemberg and Saxony, residents suffer from increasing parking fees that are up for discussion in many cities. In cities such as Stuttgart, Tübingen and Freiburg, residents have now had to pay between 120 and 240 euros annually since the introduction of new regulations for a parking permit. Stuttgart initially remains at 30.70 euros, but plans to gradually increase to 50 euros in 2027 and 75 euros until 2030 to meet the high demand for parking space, such as Tagesschau reports .

comparison of the fees in Saxony

The Situation is similar in Saxony: A comparison of 20 cities shows that the fees for resident parking cards vary greatly, of only 15 euros in Wurzen up to 72 euros in Döbeln. Some municipalities, such as Zwickau, have already decided to increase to 120 euros per year. This clarifies that the decision -making skills were transferred to the municipalities in terms of parking fees in order to better consider the local conditions, such as Sächsische.de reports .

The aim of these measures is to relieve the parking situation in densely populated areas and to make the use of public areas more fairly. With their recently increased fees, cities such as Tübingen and Freiburg make clear signals to drivers that parked vehicles in urban rooms must also have their price. This is done in the context of a larger mobility concept that is supposed to rethink traffic in city centers and is partly geared towards climate protection goals.
