Vienna increases security measures: Mayor draws positive balance sheet
Security in Vienna is the focus of Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ). As reported on vienna.at , Ludwig draws an intermediate balance on the recently launched security actions on the occasion of a press conference at Yppenplatz in Ottakring. In the past two months, 18 days of operation have been carried out in nine parts of the city. Despite the claim that Vienna is one of the safest metropolises worldwide, Ludwig is convinced that further steps are essential to improve the feeling of security of the population. In central places to the public, attention was paid to the enforcement of the "Viennese house rules" in order to punish regular violations.
Mayor Ludwig also called for the creation of other police forces to meet the special requirements of the multitude of events and demonstrations. And the interest in more security, says press.gv.at , goes beyond mere fight against crime. The city started specific actions in areas perceived as unsafe, including the introduction of a general ban on knife and a ban on alcohol on the Franz-Jonas-Platz. The security measures already show the first successes: there were 511 ads and 67 arrests of 372 checked companies. These actions serve not only of order, but also to improve the quality of life in the city and are closely related to the comprehensive team of operations in Vienna, which in cooperation with the police is against regular violations and dangerous behavior.
security measures and their successes
In the past few weeks, the Viennese authorities have also been able to tackle the problem of inhumane living conditions through the increased security measures. Ludwig explained that there were "no tolerance for speculation on the back of tenants" in Vienna and have already made ad refunds against owners of these problem houses. In order to further increase security, significant investments in technical improvements were made in public transport and stops, including increasing the number of security employees from 110 to 150. The Vienna city government plans to expand the security campaigns over the next few weeks in order to continuously improve the existing security situation.Details | |
