On June 10, 2025, a tragic killing spree occurred in Graz, Austria, in which 10 people died. The 21-year-old perpetrator, Artur A., a former student of the Federal Oberstepenrealgymnasium Dreierschützengasse (BORG), shot around 09:55 CEST at school. He was armed with a pistol and a shotgun and fired indiscriminately on the third floor of the school, especially in his former classroom. The violence he unleashed led to the death of 8 students and 1 teacher, while 11 people were injured, including several in critical condition. The police and emergency services were quickly on site and the school was evacuated within 17 minutes. The situation was under control at 11:20 am, but the incredible thing happened: Artur A. committed suicide in one of the school toilets after hiding there.
Artur A. had stopped the school years ago after not doing the sixth school level. Most recently, he was registered with the AMS and attended a course. Neighbors described him as self -contained. He often wore big headphones and a backpack, but never noticed negatively. No striking noises had been heard from the family's apartments. The gunman had not only equipped himself with legal weapons, but only acquired them shortly before the incident. A Glock pistol was bought a few days before the attack, while the shotgun has been in its possession for a long time.

Artur A. had no criminal record and there were no previous information on his upcoming actions. On the traumatic night, a non -functioning explosive device and a video were also found that revealed its intentions. The mother saw the video only 24 minutes after uploading and immediately informed the police. In response to this tragedy, Austria's government proclaimed three days of national grief. Chancellor Christian Stocker and Interior Minister Gerhard Karner traveled to Graz to cope with the situation on site and coordinate the government's reactions.
The shocking events throw a light on the significant problem that bullying in schools. Experts and corresponding institutions emphasize the importance of counteracting bullying and supporting the students. Recommendations for action include addressing problems with teachers, contacting school psychology and creating a supportive environment.
