Presumed arsonist after 16 months - shock in Wolfsberg!
A dramatic incident in Wolfsberg, Carinthia, has now taken a turn one year after a devastating fire in the multi -party house. On August 15, 2023, a fire broke out in the staircase of the building, where wooden boxes were improperly stored. The volunteer fire brigades from Wolfsberg and St. Michael quickly mobilized 35 emergency services that could control the flames. But the misfortune demanded its toll: three people had to be admitted to the LKH Wolfsberg for suspected flue gas poisoning, while the property damage was estimated at several ten thousand euros, as ORF Carinthia reported.
On December 3, 2024, the State Police Directorate of Carinthia finally announced that after intensive investigations, a 21-year-old man from the Wolfsberg district could be identified as a suspected arsonist. The crucial information came from the evaluation of DNA traces. Unusually, the trail did not lead directly to the perpetrator, but to a witness who had observed the 21-year-old when dealing with the wooden boxes. When the police confronted him, he confessed to the act, but could not state a motive for his actions, which the investigators presented with a mystery. According to 5 minutes, this case led to uncertainty for over a year and challenged the investigative authorities.
