Krampus chaos in Längenfeld: Vehicles destroyed and police attacked!
An unannounced Krampustrieben in Längenfeld, a place in the Imst district, led to tumultuous scenes in the night from 4th to December 5th. According to reports from 5min.at, several cars had to find out in the parking lot on the Ötztaler Bundesstraße (B186) that their vehicles were damaged by the masked Krampuses, which are supposed to cause fear and horror in this tradition. Windshields were destroyed and bike caps were torn from the rims. The exact damage is still unknown.
The police quickly became aware of the suspects, a group of male cramps aged 20 to 45. Apparently they showed themselves aggressively and did not cooperate. A policewoman was insulted by one of the men, and when two civil servants tried to capture a Krampus, escalated the situation. The police surrounded five more cramps, dragged the piped path and enabled him to escape. The situation could only be calmed down through the intervention of additional police patrols. Orf.at also reported details, which informed about the subsequent investigation and the determination of the identities of some involved.
The spiral of violence and uncooperativity shows how control can be lost in such supposedly harmless traditions. After completing the investigation, the police will take the necessary legal steps to clarify the incidents and prevent further escalations.
