A notable case concerns the arrest of a Croatian serial offender who stole vibrating plates from construction sites in Upper Bavaria. In the summer of 2023, 34-year-old Dominik Hiehler observed the perpetrator loading a vibrating plate into a van and immediately informed the police emergency number 110. This led to the arrest of the man, who was ultimately sentenced to a prison sentence of 4 years and 4 months by the Traunstein Regional Court. On January 9, 2025, the criminal police thanked Hiehler in a personal conversation and presented him with a letter of thanks and a reward of 110 euros. Police continue to encourage citizens to report suspicious observations in order to prevent further crimes.
