Selenskyj warns: Fico endangers Slovakia with dependence on Russia!
Bratislava, Slowakei - between Kiev and Bratislava the tensions are crazy after the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited the Kremlin. The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj expressed severe concerns and put Fico personal motives for his visit to Russia. In a post on the platform X, Selenskyj provocatively asked: "What is paid to him and what does he pay for?" He referred to Fico's dependence on Moscow, especially with regard to the Russian gas, which Slovakia continues to move despite the Ukraine war. Selenskyj pointed out that Fico benefits from discounts, but is at the expense of Slovakia's sovereignty, which could endanger the security situation in the region, according to OE24.at.
The conflict culminates in economic concerns for Slovakia, which earns around 500 million euros annually through the gastransite to Europe. Fico sharply criticized Selenskyj by describing his alleged suggestions as absurd and indicated that Ukraine damage the Slovak economy with its politics. He also warned that serious conflicts could arise when the gastransit is interrupted, as he said, according to newspravda.com. Fico asked the European partners to find solutions to maintain Russian gas deliveries and made it clear in an emotional address that European energy supply was at stake.
