Israel pulls the ripcord: leaving the UN Human Rights Council decided!
Genf, Schweiz - Israel leaves the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after Foreign Minister Gideon Saar publicly announced the decision and strongly criticized the procedure of the council. In a contribution to "X", he explained that the council, who is based in Geneva, "almost obsessively attack the only democracy in the Middle East - Israel". Instead of standing up for human rights, the UNHRC Israel has targeted and encouraged anti -Semitism. This is done in the context of a broader withdrawal from the international stage, which the United States has also joined, as Donald Trump had already announced.
The pressure on Israel
The UN human Rights Council has so far been the only body that has a fixed agenda item especially for Israel, which has led to the country being condemned in over 100 resolutions. This was more than all convicted states such as Iran, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela, reported Saar and added that this discrimination could no longer be accepted. Trump had recently signed a decree that questions the participation of the United States in several UN organizations, including the UNHRC.
The decision to turn the council illustrates the increasing tensions between Israel and the UNHRC and the connection of Israel with the politics of the United States. In the past, Trump had announced that the United States withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council. This is perceived as part of a larger strategy for realigning US foreign policy under his administration. The division within the international community regarding people and politics towards Israel is thus further reinforced, as is the reporting of shows.
