Coalition crisis in Austria: FPÖ and ÖVP struggle for ministries!
In Austrian domestic politics, the coalition negotiations between the FPÖ and the ÖVP are bubbling, while the parties struggle to distribute the ministries. The Ministry of the Interior is particularly controversial. The FPÖ calls for this key post while the ÖVP sees it as a coalition condition. Negotiating warnings of international secret services about the possible risks of taking the FPÖ of the Interior Ministry make the negotiations complicated, as kosmo.at . A ÖVP representative warned that this could endanger security cooperation in Austria.

The ÖVP, on the other hand, offered the FPÖ to the Ministry of Finance as part of the negotiations, which is considered a potential ray of light. The Ministry of Finance is strategically crucial for the FPÖ, and Arnold Schiefer, former CFO of ÖBB, is called among the candidates. While the parties hope for some compromises, the allocation of the ministries remains open until the end of the negotiations, such as Exxpress.at
The possibility of distributing responsibilities for the Ministry of the Interior is also discussed. The ÖVP could keep control of secret services and police, while the FPÖ would take responsibility for asylum and migration issues. This could accommodate the growing tensions in the negotiations and bring both sides closer to their political goals. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen that both the FPÖ and the ÖVP still have to find compromises in order to form a stable government. The division of the ministerial posts could thus open a new path in Austrian politics.
