Hotel refugees in Stuttgart: cost explosion at € 100 per day!
The hotels are currently fully occupied in Stuttgart, but not with conventional tourists. Around 10,000 refugees are looking for a safe place, but the narrow accommodation options mean that every fourth asylum seeker now lives in a hotel. However, this luxury solution is powerful: the city plans to spend more than 55 million euros in the coming year for accommodation costs and another over 20 million euros for meals. The local council is required on November 21 to coordinate this financial burden plan. In particular, the Luxury Hotels from Novum rings the cash register: a total of 1046 refugees are housed in 534 rooms in the districts of Vaihingen, Süd, Möhringen, West and Feuerbach. Here every day and guest with a fabulous 99.27 euros are charged, of which 39.27 euros are on the catering and 60 euros on accommodation.
costly accommodation: numbers that let your breath stall!
In contrast, the costs in the Hotel Plaza in Stuttgart-Feuerbach appear cheap: Here they are "only" 80.75 euros per day and person. The Hotel Neuwirtshaus in Zuffenhausen with 55 euros, the A&O Hostel in Stuttgart-Nord with 40.01 euros and several other locations such as the Dormero Hotel and the Messe & Airport Hotel with prices between 39.50 and 49.90 euros per day.
Finance mayor Thomas Fuhrmann sees the high costs as a massive burden on the household and talks about the long -term goal of foregoing hotels. Social Mayor Alexandra Sußmann meanwhile fights with the challenge of finding suitable places for new refugees. Another location, the vacant senior center in Stuttgart-Schönberg, remains unused due to civil protests. Stuttgart is faced with the difficult task of finding a cost -effective and sustainable solution for the accommodation of the increasing number of asylum seekers.
