Hamas explains: Five hostages are said to be released in new ceasefire!

Vienna, Österreich - Hamas today declared her willingness to leave five hostages as part of a new 50-day ceasefire. This was done in accordance with a proposal that was submitted by the Egyptian government. Hamas boss Khalil al-Hayya confirmed the approval of this offer and published a video of an Israelis that pleads around his release. In the video, the man expresses that he "nips" and cries, which illustrates the urgency of his situation. He was kidnapped on October 7, 2023 during the Nova music festival. The family of Israelis approved the publication of the video. These developments occur in the middle of the intensive fights in the Gaza Strip, in time to the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, whose festive season is to begin on Sunday.

The Israeli army, however, resumed its bombing and land operations against Hamas on March 18. In particular, “activities on the ground” were carried out in Rafah to expand the security zone in the south of the Gaza Strip. During these attacks, the Israeli army reported on the elimination of dozens of terrorists. Hamas, on the other hand, reported around 25 deaths within the last 24 hours. As part of the ongoing negotiations, Israel calls for the release of ten deported persons, but it remains unclear whether corpse is also included in this requirement.

Details on ceasefire and hostage policy

According to Israeli information, there are currently 24 living hostages and 35 corpses in the violence of Hamas. The difficulties in negotiations on a hostage exchange could lead to a final agreement only after the celebrations to achieve Eid al-Fitr. In the meantime, many relatives in the Gaza Strip reported that they are demonstrating against Hamas to request a deduction of the militia. In this context, Hamas published another video of Geisel Elkana Bohbot, who also asks for release, while Israel sees such recordings as psychological warfare.

The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023 and has asked for devastating consequences: around 1,200 people alone were killed and more than 250 Israelis were taken hostages. According to health authorities in the Gaza Strip, over 50,100 people have been killed so far, including a third of children and adolescents. These figures are not independent, but are considered credible by international organizations. The importance of an ceasefire is therefore becoming increasingly clear in order to provide humanitarian aid and reduce the suffering of the civilian population.

status of negotiations

The talks about the ceasefire are in full swing, and the proposal in Egypt is similar to an earlier plan of the US specialist Steve Witkoff, which was initially rejected by Hamas. Analysts suspect that the talks also represent a turn in Hamas' internal politics, since demonstrations against the organization increase in the Gaza Strip. In coordination with the United States, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made a counter offering to treat the freely to be freely used for the fire break.

So it remains to be seen how the situation will continue to develop. The international community, including Qatar and the USA, traps the developments, while the pressure on both sides increases in order to reach an agreement and relieve the humanitarian misery.
