Climate protection in the coalition poker: Are our laws really taken seriously?

Accra, Ghana - In Austria, worrying developments are emerging in climate policy. The climate, consisting of 100 randomly selected citizens, put together urgently needed recommendations to achieve climate neutrality by 2040 in the first half of 2022. Among other things, these included a departure from the throw -away company, the promotion of environmentally friendly mobility and a stronger energy self -sufficient. But now, in the middle of the current coalition negotiations, Gerd Müller comes the alarming statement that climate and nature conservation should play "no right role" in these conversations, as the Small newspaper cited.

The priorities in politics seem to be postponed, experts warn, including the deputy club chairman Madeleine Stranzinger. It calls on the government to continue to implement the recommendations of the climate and not to fall back behind the progress that have already been achieved. The warnings of return by the Chamber of Commerce, which called for the greenhouse gas reductions in a leaked paper by 2030, strengthen these concerns. Stranzinger mockingly describes the Chamber of Commerce as a "old barge", which can no longer meet the modern requirements. The experts appeal for a clear change of course in favor of a more effective climate policy and a departure from climate -damaging subsidies.

global responsibility and challenges

At the international level, Gerd Müller, former Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, asks urgent questions about the global responsibility of Germany and Europe. In a conversation with Deutschlandfunk Kultur he emphasizes that the exploitation of resources and the unequal distribution of prosperity should no longer be accepted. With an urgent appeal, he demands that holistic approaches have to be found to improve living conditions in Africa and other developing countries. Müller's book "Survival questions of humanity" illuminates the desperate conditions and grievances that he observed during his travels and describes how European foreign policy should be interpreted at eye level instead of gönnericiness.

The gap between economic development and ecological necessities is becoming increasingly clear, and it remains to be seen whether the new government will take the necessary measures to seriously take into account the recommendations of the climate and at the same time to drive global challenges such as the partnership and fair trade fair in Africa.
