Wahlchaos in Klosterneuburg: FPÖ makes challenging in the Sprengel 28!

The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) raises serious allegations against the electoral system in Klosterneuburg, especially in the election sprinkle 28, which includes the Caritas Haus St. Leopold. Josef Pitschko, the FPÖ parliamentary group leader, informed the Mayor Christoph Kaufmann on February 3 about the contestation of the municipal council election, which took place on January 26, 2025. According to Pitschko, there was a presumably illegal process in which the explosive election authority left the polling station to collect the ballot paper in the rooms of the home. As a result, the polling station was not occupied by the legally composed electoral authority during this time.

A member of the electoral authority remained in the polling station nevertheless accepted ballot papers, which Pitschko sees as the reason for a declaration of void of the election result in the relevant sprinkle. In his letter to the municipal election authority, he points out that inadmissible election methods endanger the authenticity of the elections. The incident is recorded both in the minutes of the responsible electoral authority and in the documents of the municipal election authority, which Pitschko cites as evidence of the suspected irregularities. The contestation is also supported by additional assumptions that similar processes in electoral sprinklers 23, the nursing home, were used by mercy brothers.

request for clarification

The FPÖ has already applied for a repetition of the choice in Sprengel 28, which could possibly have an impact on the distribution of the city council posts. In the municipal council election, the NEOs received only two more votes than the FPÖ, with almost 50 total votes cast in this sprinkle. The Greens also called for a complete clarification of the allegations. Hikmet Arslan, state manager of the Green Lower Austria, emphasized the need for complete transparency and protection of the democratic principles. The city office directorate Klosterneuburg now forwards the contestation to the state election authority.

Interestingly, there are several contestations in the region, including from St. Veit an der Gölsen and Blindenmarkt, which were submitted in a similar way by citizen lists. In St. Veit, a possible inadmissible voting advertising is examined, while in the blind market there is talk of an incorrect determination of the election result, as Meinbezirk reported.
