Subsidy in Romania: Ultra -right Georgescu meets Lasconi!
On Monday evening, Romania's constitutional court recognized the results of the first round of the presidential election with a clear judgment. This opens the way for the decisive runoff election on December 8th. The inferior candidate Cristian Terhes had previously submitted an application to cancel the election, but was unanimously dismissed by the judges, as the President of the court, Marian Enachen, announced before the press. Terhes criticized the campaign financing of the right -wing extremist candidate Calin Georgescu, who finished support in the first ballot.
In the upcoming runoff election, the right-wing extremist Georgescu and the conservative-liberal reform politician Elena Lasconi, who took second place in the first round. Terhe's' application for contestation was rejected after a re -counting of the votes was carried out in the first round, which confirmed the placements. The situation is further complicated by the surprisingly strong performance of the right -wing extremists in the parliamentary elections on the same day, where the social democratic PSD emerged as the strongest party, but also the right -wing extremist groups show a significant influence, as Augsburger Allgemeine reported.
with Georgescu, which maintains close connections to Russia, and Lasconi, which embodies western values, becomes the upcoming election crucial for the political orientation of Romania. The constitution of Romania only allows the cancellation of a choice in the event of proven fraud, which makes the hurdles for Terhes all the higher in order to make changes. This election could therefore not only decide on the future of the presidency, but also about the entire political landscape of the country, since the voters have to choose between extreme and moderate views.
