Salzburg City Senate decides to name for Alma Rose - a sign against forgetting!
In a moving step, the city council of Salzburg decided on Monday to name a previously nameless staircase after the musician and Nazi victim Alma Rose, who died in 1944. However, this unanimous decision took place without the votes of the Freedom Party (FPö). The freedom had previously proposed Helga Rabl-Stadler as a godmother for naming, but without keeping her consultation. Rabl-Stadler commented critically and emphasized that she was in principle against the naming according to living personalities. She confirmed that the honor for Alma Rose was an important reparation and sending a sign against forgetting. Furthermore, she demanded that political debates about the name proposal should not be misused for short -sighted goals, especially with regard to Herbert von Karajan, a prominent conductor who was associated with the Salzburg Festival, such as meinzirk.at reported.
political changes in the FPÖ Salzburg
In the context of these developments, the FPÖ in Salzburg underwent a comprehensive restructuring after tensions within the state parliament club occurred. Party chairman Andreas Schöppl presented a new four -member management team on December 1, which includes Marlene Svazek and Andreas Hochwimmer. Schöppl himself announced that he was available to the party by the end of 2016 at the latest to support its reconstruction. "The restructuring of the party is progressing faster than we expected," he explained optimistically, and emphasized that all of the Vorgeian organizations of the FPÖ are actively working together to fight a better future for Salzburg and Austria.
These two messages reflect the current changes in Salzburg politics. While some send a sign against forgetting with the honor of Alma Rose, the others face the challenge of finding a new direction within the FPÖ. The renewal within the party could also have an impact on future political decisions and attitude towards historical heritage.
