Doskozil explains the future of the SPÖ: New elections are imminent!

According to the disappointing election results of the SPÖ, the fronts are determined within the party. Burgenland's governor Hans Peter Doskozil openly criticizes his party leader Andi Babler, but without demanding immediate replacement. In the ORF press hour, Doskozil described the situation with the words: "The suffering is not yet high enough for a transfer of the SPÖ chairman". This was particularly noteworthy because he had previously made it clear that he did not want to make any personal allegations, but the SPÖ urgently had to reposition itself so as not to lose any further favor, like OE24.at reported.

The result of the National Council election is described as the worst for social democracy in the second republic. Doskozil, himself a critic of Babler, accused the Federal Party that it was "not ripe enough for a role in the federal government" and instead advocated an expert government and new elections. In a clear indication of the dynamics, he said: "We have to move away from the voter exchange with the Greens and acknowledge that the freedom party has better mobilized." At the same time, he expressed that a discussion about the first President of the National Council, which is traditionally occupied by the strongest party, was not in the current situation, which illustrates the ongoing political uncertainty, as informed the press

The SPÖ already started on Monday with the internal reappraisal of the weak result, which leads to a big discussion in the party base. BABLER has indicated that the party must be responsible and that it is not a mistake to adhere to a government participation, while other members are already urging a fundamental reorientation. This shows the tornness within the Social Democrats and leaves the question of how to proceed with the SPÖ.
