Future of the Nibelungenbrücke: Linz relies on sustainable mobility!
Linz, Österreich - The city of Linz and the state of Upper Austria have started a new initiative to evaluate the future of the Nibelungen Bridge. This bridge plays a central role in the city's transport system and is to meet all road users in the future. A specially furnished project group, which consists of experts from various disciplines, will extensively check the existing and new variants for the use and design of the bridge. This was decided in discussions between important decision -makers, including Mayor Dietmar Prammer (SPÖ) and Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP).
The project group focuses on the development of sustainable, technically feasible and sensible solutions for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and users of public transport. Thomas Stelzer emphasizes the need to find sustainable solutions that improve the mobility of the Linz population and commuters. Mayor Prammer demands concrete steps after long discussions and wants all forms of mobility to be checked equally.
Analysis of traffic use
In the course of the project, the cycle path provision was also removed on the Nibelungen Bridge, which illustrates the urgency and necessity of evaluation. The new project group will not only examine the cycling solutions, but also the entire transport infrastructure. State Councilor Günther Steinkellner emphasized the importance of an objective test process to ensure that all options are viewed transparently and fairly.
An important aspect in the discussion is to promote sustainable city mobility. In accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Environment Agency, measures such as the expansion of the bike and foot traffic infrastructure and the improvement of the public transport offer should be prioritized. Other recommended strategies include reducing public parking, parking management and the introduction of speed 30 in the entire urban area to increase the quality of life in Linz.
Sustainable solutions for the future
The desired comprehensive evaluation should also produce long -term solutions that meet future mobility requirements. The project group was founded with the aim of communicating the results of this evaluation transparently. This is in accordance with the vision of sustainable urban development, which is larm, green and diverse. The Linz Initiative could not only improve the traffic situation, but also positively influence the living environment for all citizens.
In the coming months, the project group will present their results and submit a proposal that takes into account all relevant aspects of mobility in Linz. Cooperation between city and the country is an important step on the way to a better and more sustainable transport infrastructure.
