New coalition pact: Vienna at the center of political negotiations

On Tuesday, the political parties ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS announced exciting news about the upcoming coalition talks in Vienna. After the first exploratory talks that are now behind them, the parties are ready to deal more intensively with the central topics. A clear plan was developed that includes seven main topics and 33 subgroups. These topics are not only bound to departments, but also focus on the concerns of the electorate.

A particularly remarkable aspect of these negotiations is the strong representation of Vienna. At the negotiating table not only representatives of the parties mentioned, but also significant political personalities from the city. Each of the main groups, each of four main negotiators, will cover different important subject areas. Interestingly, NEOS represents the most members in some groups.

Viennese representatives in central negotiation groups

The Viennese mayor and city councilor Christoph Return will take part in the group "Education, Innovation and Future" for NEOS. He is supported by his party colleague Martina Künsberg Sarre. In addition, Elisabeth Mayr from the SPÖ and Barbara Eibinger-Miedl from the ÖVP are sitting in this group. The NEOs have focused heavily on educational topics since their foundation, which is why this cast is not surprising.

Another exciting part of the negotiation team is Yannick Shetty, who is also one of the Neos. He is a district representative in the country road and will take care of the topics of security, migration and integration. Together with Christian Stocker (ÖVP) and Philip Kucher (SPÖ) he wants to find constructive solutions here.

Recurring role as Minister of Education could also be discussed during this coalition talks. So far, however, he has rejected any speculation about switching to federal politics.

In addition, the SPÖ brings its expertise. Julia Herr, who is sitting for the SPÖ in the National Council, heads the negotiations in the group "Control of Inflation and Living". With her at the table, Claudia Plakolm (ÖVP) as well as the NEOS representatives Josef Schellhorn and Karin Doppelbauer are

The overarching control group, which will bundle the results of all main negotiating groups, is particularly interesting. The well-known SPÖ politician Doris Bures, who is also a third National Council President, will play a key role. Together with Wolfgang Katzian, the chairman of the ÖGB (Austrian Trade Union Confederation), and Harald Mahrer, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, will be represented at the decisive negotiations.

These different components of the coalition talks show how seriously the parties want to work on solutions that meet the ideas of the electorate. The process is not only important for the parties involved, but could also have long -term effects on the political landscape in Vienna, which is decisively shaped by the coalition talks.
