Newly designed Argentinierstraße: more green and safe bike paths!
In the last trains there are two important construction projects in the district that affect the streets of Wiedner Hauptstraße and Argentinierstraße. The work that should be completed by the end of November or early December are part of an extensive redesign that improves both the infrastructure and increases the quality of life.
The Wiedner Hauptstraße is currently experiencing a comprehensive renovation. After months of intensive work, the tram operation will be resumed towards the end of the month when the construction work is finally completed. Since April 2024, the tracks that urgently had to be renewed have been replaced. Before this exchange, old water and power lines also had to be replaced to ensure the supply for the coming decades. These necessary steps were used to create a new cycle path with a double direction of travel and at the same time integrate more green areas along the street.
New look for Argentinierstraße
Another highlight is the Argentinierstraße, which will open on December 9th. Here a bicycle road was created according to the Dutch model. District boss Lea Halb-Widl proudly reports on the improvements: "Around 2,500 m² was resolved, 70 new trees were planted and about 100 green beds. In addition, the St. Elisabeth Square was enlarged and provided with new play equipment. All of this helps to make the Grätzl more lively and attractive."
These initiatives, which increase both the safety of cyclists and promote environmental friendliness, are an essential part of urban planning and show the district's commitment to modern, sustainable lifestyle. A detailed view of this progress can be found in a report on Wienerzirksblatt.at
