Vienna relies on young talents: apprenticeships for technical professions in trend!
The Viennese municipal utilities have big plans! As part of their initiative to promote specialists, they offer a total of 150 apprenticeships for young people this year. This increases the number of training in order to meet the need for qualified staff in times of a shortage of skilled workers. "We are pleased that more and more young women have chosen technical professions in recent years," says Ulli Sima, the responsible city councilor. At the moment, 57 percent of female apprentices are in technical training, and the claim is clear: "We want to increase the proportion of female apprentices in technical professions to 50 percent," adds Peter Weinelt, General Director of Wiener Stadtwerke, AS Wienerstadtwerke.at.
diverse training offers
The Wiener Stadtwerke offer 20 different apprenticeships, including electrical engineering, mechatronics and newly introduced areas such as district heating technology. These professions are not only future -proof, but also critical qualifications in today's times, digitization and automation are becoming increasingly important. "We train in an exciting and diverse training and enable graduates to do their Matura during apprenticeship," said Erich Buza, head of apprenticeship management.
In the coming autumn, 235 apprentices will start at the Vienna Stadtwerke and the takeover rate is constant 80 percent. These figures illustrate the company's commitment not only to increase the number of apprentices, but also to secure the quality of training. The city of Vienna has also set itself the goal of being climate -neutral by 2040, which will further heat the need for well -trained staff in environmentally friendly professions, as will also emphasize the city council for finance, business and Viennese municipal utility Peter Hanke that every clever head is important.
The city of Vienna and the Wiener Stadtwerke invite all young people to look at the diverse training opportunities and to apply for one of the available positions in order to become part of an important future initiative. Further information and the open training positions can be found on the Wiener Stadtwerke website.
