Learn with truck drivers: Children discover the dead corner in Ottakring
The Viennese Chamber of Commerce has started an impressive Initiative to bring the dangers of the so -called dead angle closer to the children in Ottakring. This special campaign took place at the busy Yppenplatz, where the students not only listened to listening, but also experiencing how poorly a person is perceived in road traffic from the perspective of a truck driver.
The event aimed to raise 250 elementary school students from the region through a practical experience. With the trucks and buses provided, the children had the opportunity to take a seat at the wheel and to test their view. Some students had positioned themselves in the dead corner to demonstrate that they cannot be seen from the driving position. This was not only instructive, but also exciting and entertaining for the young participants.
practical experience combines learning with fun
Wolfgang Böhm, chairman of the Viennese transporters, explained how important it is that children understand the dangers of the dead angle. "The saying that we convey to the students is: If you can't see the driver, he can't see you either," he emphasized. This simple lesson could help to avoid accidents in road traffic.
The practical workshops ensured that the children not only experienced a new learning content, but also actively participated. This promoted a better understanding of the traffic situation and raised awareness of her own security. "It is fun to sit behind the wheel of such a large vehicle," added Böhm and emphasized the importance of such interactive learning methods.
In today's traffic environment, where vehicles and cyclists are often close to each other, awareness of the blind spots of a vehicle is essential. The initiative of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce is a step in the right direction to inform and clarify young road users, which can not only lead to more security, but also to promote respectfully in traffic.
