Investigations against Martin Ohneberg: WKStA hires procedures
After many years of intensive investigations, the Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office (WKSTA) decided to discontinue the investigation against Martin Ohneberg, the former President of the Industrial Association (IV). The allegations related to his alleged aid and infidelity in connection with real estate transactions that were made in cooperation with the Viennese entrepreneur Michael Tojner.
Ohneberg, who headed the IV Vorarlberg from 2015 to 2023, was exposed to serious allegations over a period of five years. The investigation that started in 2019 was hired by Vorarlberg.orf.at, since the evidence was not sufficient to confirm the allegations. As early as 2020, an expert opinion had pointed out that the evidence against him was rather weak.

Another point of the indictment was that tojner, among other things, was said to have won control over the housing associations through the establishment of trustees. This is where Ohneberg, supposed trustee, is said to have played a role here. Tojner has vehemently denied all allegations and emphasized his innocence. However, the WKStA ultimately saw no sufficient reason to continue the procedures.
The decision to hire the investigation against Ohneberg is a significant step for him, since it is relieved of serious allegations that have burdened his public reputation and his professional activity. However, these developments throw a shadow on the shops of Tojner, which are still the focus of attention. Despite the relief, the discussion about the internal connections and practices in the real estate industry remains vivid, especially in the Vorarlberg region.
