Shopping without stress: driving ban on Mariahilfer Straße in Vienna!

In the run -up to Christmas, shopping in Vienna is becoming increasingly relaxed. Therefore, Mariahilfer Straße and Neubaugasse are closed to vehicle traffic on the shopping office days. This driving ban applies on November 30th and on the subsequent Saturdays, December 7th, 14th and 21st.

The exact sections affected by this measure extend from the inner Mariahilfer Straße between Getreidemarkt/Museumsplatz to Stumpergasse/Kaiserstrasse and also include the section of Neubaugasse between Inner Mariahilfer Straße and Westbahnstrasse. Cyclists and users of e-scooters are also affected because the ban applies to all vehicles. During this time, the existing encounter zones, charging zones and residential streets are also lifted.

recommended use of public transport

The city administration of Vienna recommends switching to public transport for Christmas purchases. The Inner Mariahilfer Straße and Neubaugasse can be reached well via the U3 station Zieglergasse and the U6 station Westbahnhof. In addition, bus line 13a is shortened on these Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to around 7:30 p.m.

In addition, the crossing of the Inner Mariahilfer Straße will only be possible via Stumpergasse and Kaiserstrasse during this time, which in turn includes cyclists and e-scooter users.

changes in one -way regulations

On the same day, some one -way streets are also lifted or explained to dead ends. The affected streets are:

  • Andreasgasse between Onr. 6 (Garage Andreaspark) and Lindengasse
  • Zieglergasse between Mariahilfer Straße and Onr. 3/4

Furthermore, the following street in Vienna-Neubau is declared a dead end:

In order to give visitors orientation, the respective operator companies of the parking garages on site are set up.

Please also note the holding and park bans that are clearly marked. All measures are displayed by provisional traffic signs and physical locks such as barriers. In addition, the city provides information about the traffic restrictions with additional boards that are set up the previous day. The Vienna police will be increasingly in use on these shopping days for monitoring the measures.

These regulations serve to guarantee a safe and pleasant shopping experience in the downtown Vienna during the hectic pre -Christmas period. You can also find more information on these changes in a current article www.vienna.at .
