Logistics workshop Vienna: Enthusiasm for forwarding professions grows

A remarkable development in the logistics industry was recently celebrated in Vienna. In front of Sertic, the division chairman for transport and traffic in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, was enthusiastic about the logistics workshop, which attracted great attention. After around 120 students took part in this event last year, there were already over 200 this year. "The places were fully booked within a minute," continued Sertic. This clearly shows the increasing interest of young people in the training occupations in the area of forwarding agency.

What makes logistics so appealing? According to Sertic, many young people recognize the excellent career opportunities in this growth -strong industry. The number of freight forwarders in Vienna has increased by an impressive 25.2% since 2013, and the transport volume in freight transport has increased by 40% to 757 million tons in the past ten years.

insight into logistics

The logistics workshop took place in the vocational school for industry, finance & transportation in Längenfeldgasse, a district of Vienna-Meidling. The event was scheduled for pupils between the ages of 12 and 14 and was organized by the Transport and Transport division and the professional information of the Viennese economy. At this special event, the young participants were given the opportunity to learn more about the many different areas of activity in logistics, directly from first -hand from trained specialists who act as logistics ambassadors.

These ambassadors clearly tell about their everyday work and answer questions from the young people. The four interactive stations were a very special part of the program. Here the students learned playfully what makes the profession of freight forwarder or the freight forwarder. One of the stations included a game in which the participants had to tear around a large inflatable globe and should identify countries or important transport connections such as the Suez Canal.

The next station dealt with filling out a freight letter, which is of central importance for the logistics industry. In addition, the young people should demonstrate their logical skills and teamwork at various games. For example, skill and coordinated cooperation were required to solve a matchstick or stack a wooden block tower. A special highlight was the task of optimally filling a cargo bike according to the principle of the game Tetris with packages.

meaning of dual training

The director of the vocational school, Barbara Jarka, emphasized the importance of dual training in the freight forwarding area. "We also cover topics that do not cover companies," she said. For example, many companies are mainly specialized in truck freight, while the vocational school gives the students a comprehensive knowledge of all types of transport, including air, rail and sea freight. This broad training optimally prepares the young people for the challenges of the industry.

The enthusiasm and commitment of the participants illustrate the potential that is in the logistics industry. Young people are ready to immerse yourself in this dynamic and growing industry, which is becoming increasingly important. For more information, See the current reporting on medianet.at
