In September, the traditional Schmauswaberl restaurant in the left Wienzeile reported bankruptcy. Peter Balon, the owner of the restaurant, had previously announced that financial difficulties threatened the restaurant. Despite multiple attempts to get support from events under the motto "rescue nights", Balon had to submit the bankruptcy.

Together with various artists, including the well -known musician Voodoo Jürgens, Balon organized these events to collect the necessary means. However, the rescue nights were not enough to avert the bankruptcy. Nevertheless, the entrepreneur did not give up and held at the events.

On November 20, there was a turning point: the creditors approved a renovation plan at the Vienna Commercial Court. This important step ensures that the feast wabberl. According to Stephan Mazal from Creditreform, the creditors receive a quota of 20 percent, with five percent already flowing to the insolvency administrator as immediate payment.

The total claims amount to around 127,000 euros, spread over 16 creditors. In order to secure the financial health of the restaurant in the long term, an enlargement of the operating space is planned. This measure is viewed as the key to success to preserve the Viennese original in the left Wienzeile.
