111 years of Sefra: A look at the colorful history of the color dealer
on Schönbrunner Straße in Margareten, a lively quarter of Vienna, a remarkable anniversary is celebrated this year: the SEFRA center is 111 years old. This color dealer has an exciting story that goes back over a century.
The company was founded in 1886 by Christian Seidler's great -grandfather in 1886. Initially, it operated as a "Seidler & Franzl" after two families teamed up. Over time, however, the business changed when the Franzl family exit, but the brand remained known under its original name.a unique heraldic animal
In the 1970s, the company was given the name "Sefra" to appear more modern. A concise feature is her colorful zebrakopf, which the company took over in 1985. Seidler was inspired when he discovered a colorful zebra in an exhibition near Hamburg. In addition to the representative function, the company has also sponsored a zebra family in the Schönbrunn zoo.
The location at Schönbrunner Straße 47 is not only the oldest, but also the company's headquarters, which has quickly become established. Interestingly, Christian Seidler's office is the former living space of his great -grandmother. Seidler also reported that the court tract, which once served as a horse stable, was built by his great -grandfather.
The changes in color trade
The color industry has changed considerably in the past 111 years. At the beginning it was the main focus of the painters to mix their colors by hand. Sefra acted as a kind of "raw material greißlerei". Today, on the other hand, colors are completely ready by manufacturers and sold in the shop. Seidler himself has been part of the company for 40 years and shows great commitment to continue his family's legacy. He heard the stories of his grandfather and father who shaped him and motivated to lead the family business.
Despite his pride in the family tradition, Seidler also thinks about the future. The next generation is ready, but corporate management brings its own challenges. Each generation brings individual perspectives and approaches. "It is important not to rest on the laurels, but to develop the existing further," he says. The development of the company is directly related to innovation and adaptation.
