New two-way bike path opened in Wohnparkstrasse: cycling made easy!
In Liesing there is now a new, generously dimensioned bike path in Wohnparkstraße, which offers cyclists an improved bike pleasure. The completed two-way bike path is structurally separated and measures a total of three meters in width. This new bicycle connection begins on the Liesingbach bike path and ends at the Erlaa loop and is therefore a significant progress for the cycling infrastructure in the region.
The cycle path not only enables a safer journey from and to the schools south of Anton-Baumgartner-Straße, but also link existing bike paths in Anton-Baumgartner-Straße and in Erilaweg. The creation of this connection improves accessibility and increases security for the students who cycle to their school buildings.
greening and security
part of the project is also an extensive greening of the residential park. Around 1,000 square meters of new green areas were created, which are equipped with an automatic irrigation system to ensure an optimal environment for plant growth. In addition, 44 new trees were planted, which not only optically upgraded the area, but also ensure a pleasant microclimate.
An appealing detail are the two new lounge areas, which are provided with light paving and are equipped with benches. In the future, these areas invite you to linger under the leaf roof of the freshly planted trees. The planting measures aim to create a family -friendly atmosphere.
bike offensive in Liesing
The new cycle path in Wohnparkstrasse is an important part of the bike offensive in Liesing, which includes over 30 cycling projects. District head Gerald Bischof (SPÖ) emphasizes that these measures are closed by significant gaps in the main cycling network and new connections are created. This should make cycling in Liesing safer, easier and more comfortable.
The project in Wohnparkstrasse clearly shows that the city of Vienna is actively working to improve the conditions for cyclists and to promote the use of bicycles as an environmentally friendly means of transportation. The creation of this new cycle path is only one step in a comprehensive plan to promote the use of bike in the city.
