Paul Felder: From the vacuum cleaner robot to the children's book - a life's work

Paul Felder, a creative spirit from Hernals, recently presented his third children's book. The Illustrator and District Council of the Greens was once again inspired by personal experiences in order to inspire younger readers and at the same time convey educational topics. During the years, Felder successfully mastered his career from the illustrator to the children's book author after he had already started illustration for friends in 2004.

In the challenging times of the Covid Lockdown, Felder began to think a lot about his grandchild, which gave him the idea for his first book-a varied journey of a meerkat through the Schönbrunner Zoo. This personal access led to other creative projects, and now fields are devoted to an issue that is important for many people today: artificial intelligence.

creative stories about technology

his new work is entitled "Staubi - a vacuum robot clears up". Inspired by his own vacuum cleaner robot, fields considered what would happen if this robot had human properties. In “Staubi”, Felder invites readers to explore the world of electronics and artificial intelligence and to think about what humanity can be attributed to robots, even if they only consist of program codes.

fields want readers to question whether computers can actually develop feelings or whether their decisions are simply the results of their programming. This innovative concept aims to promote understanding of the interaction between man and machine and to show how technology is integrated into our daily life.

for young and old

It is particularly noteworthy that there is no age limit for “Staubi”. Felder believes that his book is relevant for people from twelve to 90, since the encounter with modern technology is important for all age groups. He also plans his future projects to continue to be guided by personal experiences and impressions. He is currently thinking about writing a book about sheep, inspired by his experiences on the North Sea, where he watched huge flocks.

The book "Staubi - a vacuum robot clears up" is available at a price of 26.90 euros and appears in the Hernals publishing house. Orders can be sent by email to order@verlagshaus-herals.at .
