Focus on Styria: Money for childcare remains unused
In the upcoming meetings of the state parliament, a big topic will be on the agenda: the use of federal funds to improve childcare in Styria. As has now become known, the NEOs found that Styria did not access 18 million euros from a significant agreement in 2023/2024. This sum makes up 57 percent of the funds provided.
The Neos, led by club boss Niko Swatek, sharply criticize that, in contrast to other federal states such as Lower Austria, which receive the entire funds, Styria lags behind on this matter. In the next meeting, Swatek calls for clear answers from the Bildungslandesrat Werner Amon to find out how the state government plans to effectively use these funds.
important measures for childcare
The 15A agreement in question serves to provide financial resources to the federal states with the aim of increasing the number of childcare places, extending opening hours and, above all, improving early language support. These measures are particularly important for children with a migration background, as Swatek note. "It is simply irresponsible that the state government does not use this opportunity," he explains.
In addition, the session will also address other important topics, including the NEOS proposal, a pilot region for defibrillator drones in Styria, as well as the introduction of a digital hunting card. The worries about health care in the district of Liezen are again on the agenda.
The state parliament will deal with these critical matters on Tuesday and it remains to be seen whether the government will react to the demands of the NEOS. In today's fast -moving time, the effective use of means to improve childcare is of essential importance and could have far -reaching effects on the future development of the region.
