Approval for power plant Imst-Haiming: Fish protection and ecology in focus
In a significant decision, the Federal Administrative Court in Vienna approved the Imst-Haiming passage power plant after determining some requirements. Alexander Speckle, the board of Tiwag, was pleased to comment on the approved but minor adjustments in relation to water ecology. These changes were necessary to successfully complete the procedure in the federal capital. The project itself goes into the next phase, with a construction period that is estimated at about five years.
The positive outcome of the procedure is also welcomed by the fishing association, which had previously called for judicial improvements. "The Federal Administrative Court has considered essential measures to renovate the gush and fish protection," reports the association optimistically. A central result of these measures is that more water will remain in the intended residual water route in order to secure the survival of the young fish.
important requirements for fish protection
Andreas Schiechtl, state chairman of the Tyrolean fishing association, emphasizes the importance of this regulation: "These specifications are essential and have not taken place in the original project permit." This ensures that the rafting water is gentle, which is of great importance. Although the fishing association noted that the Tiwag will initially not fully use the Schwall compensation basin to reduce the surge, the basic attitude remains positive, since the measures required are now taken into account.
The Imst-Haiming power plant is designed as a supplement to the Prutz-Imst, which has been operated since 1956. After commissioning, a 14 -kilometer underground tunnel is directed to Haiming, where it is processed. Robert Reindl, the project manager of Tiwag, emphasizes that this procedure is beneficial to energy and the environment is also treated gently, since no additional water feeder from the Inn is required. No new weir system is also being built.
Overall, this project means an important progress for the region, since it takes into account both energy production and nature conservation and at the same time takes into account the wishes of fishing. The positive outcome of the procedure and the implementation of the measures are crucial for the future sustainable development of waters in Tyrol.
