Austrian Airlines exposes flights to the Middle East until November
The Austrian Airlines (Aua) decided to suspend the flights to the Middle East for the time being. This measure was hit as a result of the tightening location in Lebanon and the associated tensions in the Middle East conflict. The flights from and to Tel Aviv and Tehran are therefore still not available, which is provisionally valid until November 10th, as a company spokeswoman confirmed. In contrast, flights to Amman and Erbil should continue to be carried out if the situation allows this.
In the past few weeks there have been several reports on the escalation of the political unrest in the region, which leads to uncertainty for travelers. The temporary flight stop to Tel Aviv has already been extended several times and meets both business travelers and tourists. These developments have prompted the airline to constantly evaluate their decisions and to communicate continuously, said the AUA spokeswoman Anita Kiefer.
Passenger rights and options
For passengers whose flights are affected, the AUA offers the option of rebooking its tickets free of charge to a later date or receiving the ticket price. The airline recommends finding out directly about the current status of all flights to avoid inconvenience. The information is available on the AUA website.
It remains to be seen how the situation in the region is developing and what effects this could have on future flight connections. The airline has emphasized that all decisions are made in close coordination with the other Lufthansa Group. This procedure underlines the need for a common strategy in view of the uncertain security situation in the region.
