Court date for Afghans: Triple murder under the influence of madness
Court date for Afghans: Triple murder under the influence of madness
This Monday a 27-year-old man is expected in Wien-Brigittenau in court after he killed three sex workers with a knife on February 23 in an Asiastudio. Nevertheless, the man cannot be accused of triple murder, since at the time of the crime he suffered from a strongly pronounced paranoid schizophrenia and is therefore considered unacceptable. Due to these circumstances, the public prosecutor applied for the man to be briefed into a forensic-therapeutic center, instead of regular punishment.
The psychiatric expert Peter Hofmann describes the accused as highly dangerous due to his serious mental disorder. During the assessment, the 27-year-old stated that while fleeing Afghanistan in Serbia, he met a woman who identified as a European witch or Satanistin. He was convinced that this witch wanted to make him fall off his faith as a Muslim. This contributed to his serious psychological problems because he believed that the sex workers were in a complotely connection with this witch.
The defendant's thoughts
The accused said that the witch did not physically come to Austria, but its influence could also continue to work digitally on the cell phone. Despite his attempts to free himself from her influence, he stated that he had not succeeded in the long term. This conviction led him to buy a knife to ultimately kill the three women, of whom he believed that they worked with the witch.
The tragedy of this incident raises many questions about mental health, the influence of delusions on behavior and the appropriate legal handling of such cases. The negotiation illuminates the complexity of the legal situation, especially when it comes to mentally ill perpetrators who cannot take full responsibility for their actions.
Details of this tragic incident are still sparse, but the case is not only of legal but also of social interest. The theme of mental health and dealing with mentally ill in the judicial system remains of great importance and will certainly be discussed in the upcoming negotiations.
