News from the National Council: Important laws and committees in focus!

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On February 26, 2025, there is an important meeting in the National Council. As Apa-OTS , the session is opened with a current hour, for which the NEOs can select the topic. This is followed by a current European lesson, in which the selection of topics is determined by the ÖVP. A central topic of the meeting is expected to be the amendment to the Financial Criminal Act, which optimizes EU-wide cooperation in the pursuit of financial criminal offenses. However, the prerequisite for this is the approval of the budget committee for the government template.

In addition, an extradition request from the Vienna public prosecutor's office is discussed against FPÖ MP Harald Stefan. These developments are important because they directly influence the legislative agenda and shape the political landscape in Austria. Furthermore, the political groups were agreed on the choice of the remaining 30 specialist committees, with two committees less than in the previous legislative period, since some committees are merged. The choice of committees also includes a significant transformation process within the National Council, as bundesag.de reported.

This session will not only be a place for important political decisions, but also a guarantee for legal consolidation at the EU level, and in the event of necessary decisions could have far-reaching consequences for parliamentary work in Austria.
