New park Auf der Schmelz: Grünoase for Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus is being built!

In an exciting step to improve the leisure activities in Vienna, a new park with an area of 2,320 m² is built in the 15th district on the former roll sports facility "Auf der Schmelz". As early as the summer of 2025, the first visitors should be able to enjoy the versatile offers that this green oasis has. According to the Viennese City gardens, the facility will not only offer new seating and attractive green areas, but will also install several Calisthenics and fitness equipment. This will enable park visitors of all ages, actively work or just relax.

diverse offers and sustainable design

The new park is equipped with 30 tree plantings, 611 m² on green areas with small shrubs and a 547 m² lawn area. A harmonious parking design is supplemented by 165 m² of perennial and grass beds that create a natural atmosphere. In addition, two green pergolas will donate shadows on an area of 112 m², while a drinking fountain provides refreshment. Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky emphasizes that the project not only increases the quality of life in the city, but will also create a space for social interaction that remains accessible to everyone. "With the re -establishment of the park 'Auf der Schmelz', we take another step in our endeavor to create attractive green spaces for all people in Vienna," he added, as is noted in a report by press.gv.at.

Another central element of the project is the egg seal of 946 m², which underlines the connection between urban development and climate adjustment. The use of light paving for the attached surfaces will reduce the heating of the materials and thus offer better conditions for sporting activities. Security is also guaranteed: paths are illuminated to increase the feeling of security during the evening, and the park will be accessible by being connected directly to the adjacent main path.

The planning was carried out in coordination with residents who were already integrated in early phases of the project. The involvement of the City of Vienna shows that your wishes are taken into account to create an environment that meets the needs of citizens. In addition, the new green area is part of the "Livelihood of Climate Patterns" support program, which supports projects to improve the quality of life in Vienna, as wien.gv.at
