Green cycling starts: Free bike check for Vienna!
The green bike rescue brings a breath of fresh air to the Viennese bike landscape and starts its new season next Saturday, March 1st. On the occasion of their 20th anniversary, over 70 appointments will be offered throughout Vienna by the end of April. Judith Pühringer, party leader of the Greens Vienna, emphasizes: "The green bike rescue has been reliable for 20 years at the beginning of spring" and thus shows the commitment of the Greens for climate -friendly mobility in the city. The free bicycle check, in which circuit, brakes and wear parts are checked, enjoys unbroken popularity - in recent years, an average of around 2,000 bicycles have been inspected per season. The experienced cycling mechanics: Inside the Vienna Cycling workshop scene, are ready to make minor repairs such as the hose change and pumping tires. Larger repairs are taught at proven workshops to guarantee the highest quality standard. As the official notification of the Greens shows, no registration is required, so that everyone can pass directly.
all-round service for cyclists
In addition to the reviews, the green bike rescue takes care of the important details of bicycle care. Every year the team is not only committed to the safety of the bikes, but also for the expansion of the cycling infrastructure in Vienna. "We pump your tires up, set the brakes and ensure that you don't have to have any cycling worries," says the official presentation. The free offer includes all aspects of bicycle maintenance, including chain, lighting and reflectors. Especially in the past 18 years we have cured the ailments of tens of thousands of bicycles , as it continues. Last year the rush was so great that the demand for offers such as this increases, while the city administration continues to do a lot for the driver.
But that's not all: the Greens demand a comprehensive improvement in the cycle path infrastructure in Vienna. The existing infrastructure is not sufficient to meet the needs of cyclists: to meet inside. Political initiatives are intended to ensure that Vienna finally becomes a real bicycle city and the dense network of continuous cycle paths is created. Many cycle paths end abruptly or are interrupted by construction sites, which endangers the safety of cyclists. This means that the coming weeks are not only important for bicycle checks, but also for political initiatives to improve the traffic situation. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and whether the city government will give the cyclist: the urgently needed space inside.
