Turkish smuggling ring: large raid in Bavaria, Italy and Switzerland

On Wednesday, the Kempten public prosecutor and the Federal Police in Munich succeeded in fighting organized crime. An international smuggling ring was uncovered during a coordinated operation. Special units of the federal police searched a total of eight apartments in Italy, Switzerland and the Bavarian cities of Marktoberdorf, Bad Tölz and Oberammergau early in the morning. Four suspects were arrested.

The accused, all Turkish origin, are said to have smuggled at least 71 people via the Balkan route to Germany. The investigation began in October 2022 and led to highly professional smuggling processes. The smugglers used extensive travel routes and so -called "scout drivers" to avoid police controls.

The international cooperation between the Kempten public prosecutor and the Federal Police led to arrests in Austria, Bolzano and Zurich. The large -scale operation with 120 civil servants and international security forces brought the enforcement of four ceremonial recruitment commands and the securing of evidence, including smartphones and cash. The investigation continues.

The "Traunsteiner model" to combat cross -border crime was a success in this commitment. The specialized departments cooperate closely with foreign authorities in order to determine and convict the backers of Schleuserrings, drug and arms dealers.
