New Literature House in Hohenems: A place for all generations and interests

Finally the time has come: The first literary house is about to open! The official inauguration for the weekend from April 12th to 13th, 2025, followed by a ceremony on June 14, 2025.

This delay is considered positively by Frauke Kühn, the managing director of the literary house. It describes the additional time as a gift that made it possible to carefully prepare the project and to clear up any concerns within the regional literature landscape.

The literary house should serve as "a place for everyone", a place of literary art as well as the curious bookworm. Particular attention is paid to accessibility, both in terms of structural and content. Children can let off steam here in language games, adolescents pursue their social media experiments, and Seniors exchange memories.

Exciting new formats are planned, away from classic readings to creative productions. Authors will read on an intermediate stage in the staircase what they always wanted to present. The literary house is borne by the association "Literature." And emerged from a project of the "Literature Vorarlberg" Author Association.

The villa in which the literary house is being built was built in Hohenems by the textile industrialist Iwan Rosenthal and his wife Franziska in Hohenems at the end of the 19th century. Thanks to an urban development project, the building is currently being revitalized and redesigned in order to soon serve as a cultural and literary oasis for the entire region.

you will receive more information about this exciting literary project on Vorarlberg.orf.at.
