Another avalanche alarm on the Arlberg - relief with injuries!
On January 4, 2025, the Arlberg region experienced two dramatic avalanches in a short sequence. At 11:15 a.m., a ski guide was spilled by an avalanche during a descent into the variant area "Klemm". He was on the slope with three other ski drivers when a snow board teared off and torn him away. Thanks to the quick reaction of his companions, who used avalanche hunters, the ski guide was quickly found and recovered. He suffered an indefinite injuries and was immediately flown to the Feldkirch State Hospital after he was first looked after by the emergency doctor, as the LPD Vorarlberg reported.
Almost at the same time, around 10:50 a.m., there was a wide range of around 65 meters wide and two meters in height at the Steinmähderbahn mountain station in another part of the region. This led to a large -scale search in which members of the mountain rescue Lech, alpine police officers, adhesives and even avalanche dogs took part. They thoroughly searched the entire area with special devices for location of spilled. Fortunately, there was no further incident because nobody was buried. The avalanche report for the Arlberg area pointed to an avalanche warning level of 2 on this day, which speaks for extensive snow cover and thus a certain risk.
