Marriages in the upward trend: divorces increase by ten percent
Last year 2,215 marriages took place in Vorarlberg, which was almost unchanged compared to the previous year. According to the State Office for Statistics, the number of divorces increased by more than ten percent to 723 cases in the same period.
The Vorarlbergers were rather common compared to other regions in Austria. With 2,215 marriages in the previous year, they were at the top of the federal state comparison with Tyrol. The average age of the bride was 32 years old and the groom 34 years - compared to about ten years ago, when men on average with 35 and women at the age of 32.
Most weddings took place in June and September with around 300 ceremonies each. However, despite these lively marriage activities, the statistics office in the Vorarlberg country house showed that the number of divorces increased by almost ten percent. In 2023 there were 19 same -sex marriages in Vorarlberg, 15 between men and 14 between women took place.
