TS Dornbirn Handball: A new high flight for the offspring!
Dornbirn, Österreich - The TS Dornbirn Handball, one of the most growing sports clubs in Vorarlberg, has impressive membership growth. The number of members has almost doubled since the 2019/20 season, from 78 to 151 in the current season 2024/25. This growth is not only supported by the committed association work, but also by an increasing interest of children and adolescents in handball. Six young teams who are looked after by a motivated team of coaches train weekly. Section manager Tobias Gmeiner emphasizes that the association is in a dynamic phase, despite the changed framework conditions.
As can be read on the official website of the TS Dornbirn Handball , youth promotion is considered a central component of the club philosophy. The association offers a varied training program and creates a beneficial environment to give young talents the opportunity to discover and develop their passion for handball. The entry into the club is increasingly via trial training and personal recommendations, which contributes to a positive development of the number of members.
Financial stability and support
The financial basis of the association remains stable, but a main sponsor is sought to secure the future of the association. The game is financed by membership fees, smaller sponsors, events and public funding. This commitment is essential to maintain the game and further expand the association infrastructure. Finally, the club structure and the support for home games and events were discussed at the department meeting.
Despite the challenges that Covid 19 pandemy brought with it, the importance of sports clubs for the motor development of children and adolescents became clear. A study carried out over a longer period of time shows that sports club members develop significantly better motor skills than their peers who are not active in the club. This applies in particular to the coordination and condition, and the results underline the relevance of club life for healthy development.
In the study, a total of 1092 participants were examined across different age groups, with a clear correlation relationship between membership in a sports club and motor performance. This shows the importance of structure and support that sports clubs offer their members, as well as at TS Dornbirn Handball.
The association thanks the Raiffeisenbank in the Rhine Valley for the provision of the event area, which can be used for various events and activities. TS Dornbirn Handball is looking forward to the upcoming challenges and opportunities to continue to play an important role in the promotion of handball in the region.
