Exciting Ländle derby: Bregenz Handball loses wafer thin against hard

In the exciting duel of the handball legends, the Alpla HC Hard and Bregenz met handball in the spectacular atmosphere of the handball arena Rieden. In front of a sold-out house, the 103rd Ländle derby took place on November 23, 2024, which put both players and fans into a real storm of emotions. Ultimately, the red devil cheered over a narrow 27:27 win, which demanded a lot to the two teams.

In the first few minutes, an extremely exciting game emerged. Bregenz keeper Ralf-Patrick Häusle shone and decided with his five parades for the first seven minutes in favor of the home side, who quickly took the lead 4-1. But the guests found the game back and set an impressive 5-0 run, which finally brought in their first 2-goal lead at the 6: 4 booth. The defensive of the HC Hard under Goalie Golub Doknic was particularly strong during this phase and made the Bregenz attack dizzy.

fascinating goalkeeper performance

Both goalkeepers kept the game exciting with their strong performances in the game. While Häusle had a defense rate of over 54 percent in the first half, the offensive performance of the two teams remained behind the expectations due to ball losses and misconceptions. After 30 minutes the game changed sides with a narrow 11:12 for hard.

After the half -time break, the balanced course of the game continued. While Hard mostly took a goal in the lead, it was often said in the result table: Bregenz countered. Coach Marko Tanaskovic now put new impulses and brought Jan Kroiss into the goal, but he could not quite maintain the outstanding quota of Häusle. Nevertheless, the game remained extremely exciting until the final phase.

The exciting end

The best goal scorers were Ante Tokic, who scored six goals for Hard, while Andreas Schröder did not get enough for a point win with his nine goals. Hard's victory led to the “Red Devil” jumped to second place in the table, while Bregenz Handball had to give points for the first time this season in front of a home crowd and slipped to fifth place. The mood in the hall was recently shaped by joy among the harder and a noticeable disappointment among the home players who had given everything in a rousing derby.

Another look at the filled hall shows how spellbound the viewer followed the last few minutes. A ray of hope for the fans was the hope of better performance in the next game to compensate for the disappointing course of this derbies.
