Pfänder tunnel closed: exercises and maintenance work ensure diversion
In the night from Monday to Tuesday, the A14 motorway will be completely blocked by the Pfänder tunnel. This step is necessary to carry out an application exercise in which different rescue workers can improve their skills in an emergency.
The emergency services, including the fire brigades from Bregenz-Lieden and Lochau, the Dornbirn motorway police and the Red Cross Bregenz, will go through future-oriented training in order to be optimally prepared for emergencies. This is particularly important in order to be able to ensure a smooth process in critical situations.
traffic disruptions and maintenance work
The traffic disruptions start at 7 p.m. and are supposed to continue until around 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning. In time, both tunnel tubes are blocked and a diversion is set up via the urban area. This harbors certain inconvenience for drivers, but ensures that the training measures can take place without interruption.
The ASFINAG also plans to carry out the necessary maintenance work on the tunnel tubes after the exercise. This work is essential to ensure the safety and functionality of the tunnel in the long term.
The decision for this planned measure was made to increase the efficiency of the emergency services and at the same time optimize the technical condition of the tunnel. Further information on this blocking can be found here
