ÖFB: Structures shake after Mitterdorfer's surprising resignation

In the world of Austrian football, there were recently significant changes when ÖFB President Mitterdorfer resigned on Thursday evening. This happened shortly before an extraordinary board meeting, which should treat personnel questions, among other things. Since Monday, Mitterdorfer was officially planned to use the former ÖBB director Silvia Kaupe-Götzl as CEO of the new management. Nevertheless, the excitement was great because this position does not exist in the statute of the ÖFB. Already in February, team boss Ralf Rangnick said that he was dissatisfied with the non -present management, specifically Bernhard Neuhold. Now the question is in the room who has pleaded for Kaupe-Götzl, with Hollerer and League board member Christian Ebenbauer being suspected.

Mitterdorfer and Hollerer: A questionable friendship

The past few months have been characterized by strange entanglements. Mitterdorfer and Hollerer acted like "best friends", which some observers classify as problematic. The league called for a public tender for the CEO post, which questions communication and transparency. This friendship gives rise to questions: What is behind this unclear turn, and how is the relationship between the outgoing president and Hollerer interpreted?

In the past few days, Mitterdorfer had to deal with the pressure of media and dissatisfaction within the association, which gnawed on his authority. Rumors that were about its suitability led to a more tense climate that ultimately led to his resignation. Another point is the fact that Mitterdorfer terminated Hollerer and Neuhold before he stepped down. However, due to their six -month notice period, these two must remain in office until May. This leads to another complication in an already chaotic environment.
