New mayor in Schruns: Surprising victory in the head-to-head race!
Bregenz, Österreich - In Vorarlberg, the local elections have produced exciting results. In the municipality of Schruns, Jürgen Haller from "Metnand För Schru" narrowly prevailed against Martin Sadjak from the "Schruser People's Party" with only eight votes. The race for the mayor's post was extremely tight and ended in a head-to-head race. At the same time, there was also a short result in Lustenau: ÖVP candidate Patrick Wiedl emerged with 3,482 votes as the leader, but the green Simon Vetter only missed the runoff election by 16 votes. The tension remains high, since the final decision is made in two weeks if the choice is still pending between Wiedl and the FPÖ candidate Martin Fitz, vorarlberg.Af.at .
Surprisingly, the outcome in Bregenz, where Mayor Michael Ritsch was re -elected by the SPÖ without a runoff election. With 50.94 percent of the votes, he clearly left his challenger Roland breakfast from the ÖVP, which came to 29.96 percent. For the SPÖ, this means a return to the strongest faction in the city council since 1995, which could possibly change the political course in Bregenz. The ÖVP clearly lost to votes and mandates, while the FPÖ moves into a stronger position with grown voices, as Exxpress.at reported.
