KUB Bregenz: Art & Considerations in Looking into 2023
KUB Bregenz: Art & Considerations in Looking into 2023
In the Bregenz Kunsthaus, the 2023 annual balance sheet produced a positive result, even if the number of visitors stayed behind the record of the previous year. Cub director Thomas D. Trummer was optimistic about the ongoing and past exhibitions. Instead of the more than 57,000 guests who visited the exhibitions in 2022, a decline to around 52,000 visitors is found: inside until the end of the year. Despite these numbers, there is no cause for concern, because the quality of the events remains high.
A special event was the repeated destruction of Cub Billboards this year when the word "Gay" was cut out of the lettering "Wish You Were Gay". However, these unexpected challenges do not seem to affect the creative impulses of the Kunsthaus. Trummer sees the next year 2024 under the topic of "shared inwardness", which is supposed to trigger a reflection of the common human origins.
exhibitions 2024 and creative approaches
For 2024, innovative and fascinating exhibitions are planned. The artist Precious Okoyomon, who was born in London in 1993 and has both Nigerian and American roots. Her work that you made known was characterized by a profound examination of nature and art, as demonstrated in the Venice in Venice 2022. Trummer describes Okoyomon as a "great artist", whose works address the viewer directly and encourage you to think about her dreams.
In addition, Malgorzata Mirga-Tas, a Polish artist, will be represented in the Kunsthaus in summer. She has already promised to create impressive sculptures of animals, including wax bears, in addition to textile work. Your creative work is supposed to connect to nature and humanity and the visitor: offer a new experience inside.
anonymity in the autumn exhibition
In autumn there will be another exhibition, the artist of which has so far been kept secret. According to Trummer, it is crucial that the personal origin of the artists: inside does not affect the view of their work. This approach promotes an impartial consideration of art and is a daring but interesting approach.
The Kunsthaus Bregenz received a state funding of 3.2 million euros in 2024, which is also planned for future projects. Cub director Monika Wagner is confident that the budget will be provided at the same amount in the coming year. This financial support is essential to be able to implement the numerous innovative art projects and exhibitions.
