Cologne Chamber Orchestra replaces Israeli musicians at the master concert in Bregenz

A significant change in the game planning of the Bregenz master concerts 2024/2025 is imminent. On December 14, 2024, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra will take the stage instead of the originally planned Israel Chamber Orchestra. This decision was made in response to the currently tense conditions in the Middle East and the associated unexpected flight cancellations that make it impossible for the musicians to travel to Bregenz.

Christoph Poppen, who was already intended as Principal Guest Conductor of Israel Chamber Orchestra, has quickly campaigned to win the renowned Cologne Chamber Orchestra for this special evening. The program remains unchanged and offers a varied repertoire: the overture for the opera "Le Nozze di Figaro" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the two piano concerts, performed by the soloists Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg. The Symphony "With the Pauken vortex" by Joseph Haydn can also be found, while Aviya Kopelman's play "New Piece" is replaced by a work by the Israeli composer Betty Olivero.

The Cologne Chamber Orchestra

The Cologne Chamber Orchestra is the oldest chamber orchestra in Germany, founded in 1923. It has made a name for itself internationally, especially through its warm string sound and a versatile repertoire that includes sensitive interpretations. The orchestra tours regularly and has already participated in important festivals in different countries, including in South Korea and the Netherlands. Most recently, it was active in Portugal as part of Christoph Poppen's "Festival Internacional de Música de Marvao" - this was already the fifth Residency in a row.

The Kulturservice Bregenz expressed itself optimistically about the short -term extraction of this top -class ensemble. The anticipation of a musical evening, which is supposed to inspire the audience with the highest performance, is great.
