Young people for nature conservation: Gascht students in action

In November, students of Gascht in Bludenz were involved in nature conservation and supported the Nature Conservation Association Verwall-Kostaler mountain forests with an important measure to maintain nature. The focus of this mission was on wooden care in the European Protection area of Klostertaler Bergwälder.

With this care use, the students not only learned something about active nature conservation, but they were also able to implement this practically as part of their biology lessons. Under professional guidance, the 1st grade cut back the trees with great zeal and removed shrubs to maintain the valuable lean pastures.

These blossom -rich meadows are a characteristic element of the cultural landscape of Vorarlberg. They also represent an important habitat for numerous specialized animal and plant species. Particularly noteworthy is the rare ninth park, a species of birds that can rarely be found in the region. These species need structurally rich landscapes with hedges and open areas for their survival. Thanks to the pupils' creation, the habitat of the ninth meat is not only preserved, but also actively promoted.

If such areas are not maintained regularly, they risk being overgrown by trees. This would have far -reaching consequences for biodiversity and could endanger the habitats of the ninth mication. The active cooperation of the students makes an important contribution to keeping the landscape open and protecting rare species.

The Nature Conservation Association Verwall-Krostertaler Bergwald thanks the committed young people and their teacher for their valuable contribution. Projects like this are crucial to sensitize and inspire young people to protect our unique nature. “With the support of the state and the European Union”, is also an important means of implementing these important environmental protection measures.
