Vandalism in the mountains: Left -wing extremists destroy Kickl climbing route!
Hochschwab, Österreich - In the Styrian Hochschwab Mountains, the “Secret Schwob” via ferrata, which was co-founded by FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl, was the goal of a suspected attack. Unknown perpetrators removed the security hooks of this route with a cutting disc. The FPÖ speaks of a "left -wing extremist attack". Kickl climbed this climbing route together with his friends Thomas Behm and Robert Gruber in October 2020 and the right to name was secured. Now the Antifa apparently claims to be responsible for the destruction and justifies the "attack" with a political statement that alludes to the history of the Hochschwab as a resistance place, as Oe24.at reported.
"Mountains have always been a political space," explain the activists and criticize Kickl to abuse this route for his self -staging. The situation leads to a storm of indignation within the FPÖ: The Member of the National Council Sebastian Schwaighofer describes the incident as a "act of irrational malice". He urgently warns that removing the security points is an acute danger to mountain athletes. Anyone who gets naively into the climbing route could be in mortal danger if suddenly essential security precautions are missing. The alpine portal "Bergstiegen.com" also warned the community of the dangers caused by vandalism, and emphasizes that this public staging Kickls is not known, which could certainly be seen as an insult by fans of the climbing route, such as krone Notice.
