Sad mountain accident: Dutch falls fatal on the Kitzbüheler Horn!

On June 5, 2025, there was a tragic accident on the Kitzbüheler Horn, in which a 63-year-old Dutch tourist was killed. According to Krone , the man with his daughter and his son -in -law was on a hike when the accident happened. The group was out on the Jägersteig and reached a height of around 1,601 meters. At that moment the father crashed around 40 meters of altitude over a steep, grass -covered northern slope.

After the fall, the tourist remained motionless. Attempts to resolve through his son -in -law and by randomly present Americans were unfortunately unsuccessful. The alarmed crew of the emergency medical helicopter C4 could only determine the death of the man, reports emergency reactions in the mountains

The rescue of the deceased was carried out by a police helicopter. Tragically, such accidents in the alpine range are not isolated. Like Alpin , there have been a number of similar incidents in the mountains in the past few weeks. On May 26, 2025, a hiking group in the Wilder Kaiser got into mountainousness and had to be saved. On the same day, five ski tourers were found dead at the Rimpfischhorn in the Valais Alps.

The numbers are alarming: In the past few weeks there have been increasing accidents in the Alps, with numerous rescue operations being necessary due to the mountain rescue and emergency teams. This illustrates the risks associated with mountain tours even on apparently safe hiking trails.

The dramatic events around the Kitzbüheler Horn are reminiscent of how important security and caution are when hiking in the mountains. Even simple hikes can turn into dangerous situations if the weather or the circumstances are unpredictable.
